  1. PM HOT-1 Flooding issue

I ran an MJ900 for almost 2 years, and never had a problem. I would try the smaller powerhead. HTH.
  2. Photo Newbie

Thanks Sharkky! I'll have to look into the DiMage. The Lexmark printer/scanner I looked at last weekend, and I think I'll pick one up.
  3. Photo Newbie

    Anybody?
  4. Photo Newbie

Hi All, I need some direction regarding entry-level digital camera and printer equipment. I don't have the resources to buy the really great equipment some of you use. For the camera, it needs to be an all-around use camera, that is, it will be used for snapshots of the kids, etc, but I also...
  5. Puffers with reefs?

Puffers will normally make quick work of eating all crustaceans in the tank. That being said, I do have a small 4" porcupine puffer in my reef tank. On occasion, he will bite snails, but does not yet have the strength to break the shell, so no harm done. Leaves my hermits and cleaner shrimp...
  6. anyone dosing kalk like this?

I agree with Matt. Dosing kalk in this manner is just not practical, unless you have very little calcium demand, and very little evaporation. When I was doing it this way, I was adding about twice this amount 2 times a day in a 65 gallon, and still had to add another gallon of plain ro/di water...
  7. anyone dosing kalk like this?

I have in the past, with no adverse effects. I must have read the same book.
  8. Marine Snow

Thanks Technoshaman, I'll have to check it out!
  9. Marine Snow

Thanks, Tom. Kinda figured as much, after seeing the link Podman posted. Have already taken some countermeasures, and it was already starting to look a little better yesterday.
  10. Marine Snow

Thanks, Podman. LFS has just started caryying DT's, looks like I'll be picking some up...
  11. Finalizing plans for 800 gallon shed refugium

Awesome! My personal thoughts: I would pour a slab, as I have never been a big fan of using block for anything. I would also run the plumbing underground since you are in a climate where it is more practical than here in Minnesota. The reason being temperatures below ground will not swing as...
  12. Marine Snow

About a month ago, I began feeding marine snow, mainly for a non-photosynthetic gorgonian. Marine Snow was recommended to me by a couple of other people who have the same one. I have been feeding about 3/4 of the recommended dose, twice a week. Over the last month, I have had an increase in a...
  13. any precision marine hot-1 users?

I've used the HOT-1 for almost a year now, with a maxijet 1200. Has never overflowed, and after playing with it for the first 2 days, have never adjusted it. It's the only skimmer I have ever owned, so I can't compare it to any others, but I recommend it to anyone based on quality and ease of use.
  14. Star Looking Thing on Gorgonian

Thanks, Matt. Whatever they are, they seem to be content to stay on the gorgonian, and don't seem to be hurting it, so I guess I won't worry about them.
  15. Star Looking Thing on Gorgonian

Well, we tried and tried to get a better pic, but this is the best we could do. Hope this helps.
