  1. ID of three items...

I've had some success with Joe's Juice -- but this one is at the bottom of the tank and grew so big, so fast, I wanted to be sure that is what it was before "feeding" it. :) -Chris
  2. ID of three items...

There are three identifications that I'm looking for help on: 1. This is about the size of a quarter and the only one of its kind in the tank. Friend or foe? 2. I'm pretty sure this is just a giant aiptasia but wanted to confirm. Again, the only one of its kind in the tank. 3. I have no...
  3. Refugium Suggestions

Not sure if I have the time (or skills) to build my own refugium, so I'm looking for suggestions on something pre-built. It is going to have to fit under my tank, so max size would have to be 36x14x16. I'd like to have a compartment for my skimmer as well. Any suggestions on where to look /...
  4. Any experience with Coralvue electronic ballasts?

Does anyone have experience with Coralvue electronic ballasts? I'd be interested in hearing the pros / cons, good / bad reviews. They are being proposed as the ballasts for the new lighting setup I'm planning on installing (MH, 250W, Lumenarc Mini's, w/ Reeflux bulbs). Thanks!
  5. New Setup – Questions

I had thought about the flow disturbing the sand. In my old tank I had no flow (lesson learned), so this time I wanted to get the right flow and adjust the other variables (dial it down, add more sand, change the spacing) as required. Good point though... something I've been thinking about.
  6. New Setup – Questions

Interesting to hear that most don't use UV. I only have it because of a problem years ago with green water. I think I'll leave it out of the initial setup and try to get by without it then. ASM for the skimmer -- I'll look into them. I had seen a few posts about them. Thanks! Lawdawg...
  7. New Setup – Questions

After a few years away, I am setting up again. I’ve been reading the boards and have learned a lot since then but I am still very much a beginner. After reading some great posts (Len – Your lighting pics gave me some great ideas and I too can’t wait to see pictures of your new tank!), I...
  8. Green glow! A green water algae problem

A few years ago I had a green water algae problem so bad that my tank actually looked like it was glowing when the lights were on. It was a reef tank and I invested in a UV Sterilizer, which solved the problem in less than two days. Now my friend, who just setup a small (75 gal.) fresh water...
