  1. leather corals

like kind of lights are they under at the LFS? I've got the same coral in 2 tanks. both run to the same sump, so the water is the same in both the only difference is lighting (1) VHO bulbs, minimal polyp extension (2) MH, full extensions
  2. 2 MagDrive 9.5s ok in a 10g Sump?

I had a 10 gal sump on a 55, IMO, go bigger with the sump.
  3. Bigger is Better?

yes, you could. but you can still only get so much water through the slots on the overflow box. I use (4) 36" VHO bulbs, because of the brackets I made. It works for soft corals and other "low light corals" I could fit (2) 46-1/2" bulbs and (2) 36" bulbs into the canopy if I made new brackets...
  4. Bigger is Better?

Every set-up is different, unfortunatly. as far as the bowfront, my current reef is in a 72 bowfront the limitations are mainly the lights it's hard to find off the shelf fixtures for these tanks and forget about a canopy unless your handy with tools for a drain, I drilled (1) 1" bulkhead...
  5. Auto feeder

Unsure how it handles flake, I've never used it with flakes The only downsidesare mine makes alot of noise when it's spinning you can't set the times it feeds (every 12 hours) the braket to attach it to the tank is a little small for 72 bowfront molding
  6. What about skilter filters?

I believe it was on an April Tank of the month last year at RC. they had nothing but good things to say about it ;) honestly, it was a great idea that wasn't thought out very well
  7. Auto feeder

I use the penplax auto feeder (battery type) and love it. I don't need to worry about if I leave for a weekend, or stay at work all day. My fish get fed twice a day with pellets it has never miss-fed (if that's a word) in over 1-1/2 years
  8. Weird Tank

Looks like a breeder tank. I would be suspect about the dimensions if the person used a ruler, they could easily miss 2" or are adding the outside of the moulding which will add some. I've seen AGA make 40 breeders same dimensions just 36" long instead. after working in a LFS, I would guess...
  9. Urchins...

blue tuxedo's are pretty cool to watch I dropped a staple in my 37 when I was securing some wires I couldn't find it to save my life, I probably smushed it into the sand. The next day, that urchin was carrying it around like decoration
  10. Reef Safe eel?

most eels are "reef safe" that is they won't eat corals forget about keeping clams shrimp other smaller fish and I think anemones (but I can't prove the eel did it)
  11. i'm confused?

no kidding they sell alot of them. when I worked at one I tried to talk a guy out of buying one for 2 hours, he still bought it. and I bet he blames me for selling the piece of **** to him
  12. Powerhead vs. Starfish

you'd be suprised by the regeneration capabilieties of starfish I agree, keep on eye on it for a while before you flush
  13. Oceanic Salt ?

since I switched, I've noticed a slight diatom bloom in my tank, I guess from the lower pH other then that, I like it. especialy the 90 gal containers.
  14. Ehiem or Fluval?

EHIEM ALL THE WAY I didn't understand the differences untill I bought one for my fw. The thing just runs and runs and it's quiet, I need to put my hand on it to see if it's running. I'd invest pro-II, the priming pump comes in handy, and it has a flow meter.
  15. Does Chemi Clean have any unwated effects?

It's worked everytime i've used it. with no adverse affects to fish or coral. my only complaint was that the skimmer "goes nuts" after I plug it back in for about 1 week.
