One disadvantage to the above approach: You evaporation rate is most likely going to vary considerably given changes in humidity and temperature. That being the case, the amount of calcium and alk ( & PH ) that you are dosing is going to vary in lockstep. I have this issue currently with my kalk...
At a simplistic level, yes. The amount you need to dose is dependant on more than the number of calcifying organisms that you have in the tank however.
If you've got a bunch of free time point your browser here and start reading: http://advancedaquarist.com/index/ChemAqua.shtml
you can dose that amount no problem. It wont be in one shot however. The litermeter will dose as little as 50ml in 24 hours spread out over 150 doses.
Are you going to get two external pumps? I think that this pump is most valuable to automate top off. You wont be able to do that and the two...
Mine pumps from another room, into the basement and back up to the tank in the living room. Here is the remote room.... All of my make up water comes from the litermeter.
My reservoirs are standard 5 gallon water jugs. Both are full of Kalkwasser ( mixed once at the start ). The jugs last 1.5 -...
It really depends on where the noise is coming from as to what the solution will be. That being said, I struggled with noise for 4 or 5 months trying everything in the book. I finally set my Megaflow up as noted in this thread http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=344892...
Yes, you can change the orientation. If you want, give Iwaki a call. Thier support team is awesome. They're about ten minutes from my house.

Ive been running the 620 in a 3 foot tank for a while. Its a good pump so far. I have it blowng directly on some Montipora colonies on the opposite side of the tank. Polyp extension and growth HAVE increased.
Is the coral on the left a montipora? I know the one on the right is. I picked the one on the left up as a small frag from someone who was taking down their tank. It’s been growing quick. The branching is finer than other montis I have and the polyps don’t seem to fluoresce under blue light.
