I've tried the aptaisa x, kalk, nude branch peppermint shrimp, the only real success I've had was with a file fish. We think its cute, my wife name it Philomina. With in 3 weeks my infestation was gone, haven't seen one since.

I would not rest that light directly on the egg crate, my opinion salt creep would ruin your fixture. you said that you have a canopy top. Is there a way to put a bracket or ledges on the sides for you to slide the light unit on to and still be able to lift the top?
