  1. Anyone interested in having photos of their fish published?

Well, no sense in beating a dead horse. Just take a look at the first message and if you don't see why people are upset, then take a long look and think about the last few messages of this thread. There is a lack of understanding of intellectual property. For the writers out there, I don't...
  2. Anyone interested in having photos of their fish published?

Hey, there is a list of photographs I need for a job I'm doing, but if I hire someone to shoot the photos, I will have to pay them and that will cut into my profit, so..... Or, we have a publication and we are in it to make a profit and put as little as possible into the product. In fact, we...
  3. Anyone interested in having photos of their fish published?

I always find it interesting when people are looking for FREE material. Why don't you pay the photographer and write the article for free??? When you ask/use photographs for free, you demean the value of the photographers labor and expertise. I'm sure that whatever your avocation is, you...
  4. What is your most prized fish?

    Hector gobie is totally cool!
  5. Dual overflow with Standpipe

I have dual overflows and all the water goes down one of them. I decided to accept this and just use the second in case the first one gets clogged, or some other kind of emergency. I have an acrylic cover too and the overflow is virtually silent. Maybe yours measure the same height, but when...
  6. Torch freaking out?

One of the polyps on my torch has some weird brownish pink mucous covering the entire polyp. I gently blew it with a turkey baster and the polyps underneath look like they have been popped. Any ideas as to what this is? Thanks, Mark
  7. Going to be in NYC...must sees?

  8. Going to be in NYC...must sees?

I'm going to be in New York and Connecticut this weekend and was wondering if there are some great LFS's or public aquariums that are must sees? LMK and thanks, Mark
  9. Refugium ideas for a 200

That is one problem I have. The tank is about 4 feet off the floor and is 30 inches high. I figure that the outside ground level is 16 inches below the inside floor, so, does that mean the outside sump would have to be 10 feet above the ground? That will be a challenge! Mark 8O
  10. Refugium ideas for a 200

You got it right, I do want to put it outside. I live in So. Ca. near the beach. There are probably 2 weeks out of the year when it gets into the 80's. It actually might help to keep my temp down. I was going to enclose it so it would be protected from the elements. Thanks, Mark
  11. Refugium ideas for a 200

I have the usual full blown system, reactor skimmer, lots of flow, MH 400 watters, etc. A few fish and lots of Sps's mostly frags, but a couple big pieces. I want to add a refugium and there isn't any room under or near the tank. The thought was to put the refugium outside. The spot is about...

  13. Porcelain crab and sexy shrimp reef safe?

A six line will go after them? Hmmm, is that a for sure thing, or is it one of those, "your flame angel will wipe out your corals...well, maybe not" kind of thing? Thanks, Mark
  14. Porcelain crab and sexy shrimp reef safe?

Are they? Is a porcelain mostly a filter feeder? And what about those shrimp. Don't know the latin name, but it looks very similar to an anemone shrimp. I seem to really like lots of small creatures in my tank. Thanks, Mark
