I seem to have an out of control population of flatworms. At least I think they are flatworms (see pics). Any ideas as to how they became this prolific and how I might attempt to control them.
The tank is a 90 gallon reef, setup last november with 130 lbs of live rock and a sand bed of 2 to 4...

I recently noticed quite a few of these small (< 1/16") white multi legged critters in my 90 gallon reef tank. I assume they are some type of copepod. I did manage to get a not bad picture.
Anybody got any ideas as to what these are???

Coralshrimp and Chucker, thanks for the reply. I thought the critters in question might be sponges (I did check the HHFAQ page prior to posting) but was unsure due to the fact these are more the size of LARGE grains of rice ( 1/4" wide and 1/2+" long).

Sounds like diatoms. This will probably stabilize after a few months. One thing you could do is use distilled water for your water changes. It is probably not worth buying a RO/DI unit for the amount of water you need to keep up a 20 gallon tank.
Please help me identify these pod like things before they take over my reef tank. They are in a 90 gallon tank I setup in November last year. I noticed the first one about a month ago. Since then I have found about 5 or 6 more. They mostly seem to take up residence in small holes on the rock...
