  1. cutting zoanthids in half

Hey Len, How's the SPS dedicated tank coming along? This is Jimmy who tried to give you my ricordia...hehe. I started a nano now. And I have some zoo's and I won't try to slash them. Just let them grow, under the right condition, they grow pretty fast.
  2. red acro bug cure DISCUSSION

Dustin, I just want to say a BIG THANK YOU for taking the time to find the medication and sharing the results for FREE! My tank and I thank you for all the hard work and hours put into this project! :D Dreaded Red Bugs, I'm taking you down in Chinatown! Jim
  3. Red Acro "Bugs" -- Looking for volunteers

When will the results be finalized, and we can get our grubby hands on this medication? I'm see a few red bugs in my system, probably from a frag trade, these buggers are annoying the crap out of me. PM if you want. Thanks. Jim
  4. Red Acro "Bugs" -- Looking for volunteers

How are the pods population after treatment?
  5. Nitrates=0 and almost 5 months since Water Change

You need to change water. I use to be lazy as well, and neglect water changes. But your water is probably depleted of essential trace elements and parameters are unbalanced. A simple water change will keep those levels at "good" levels. Some examples are calcium, alkalinity, magnesium...
  6. Check Out This Sea Surpent I found in my Tank

That is a brissle worm. It is kinda big, so I would remove it ASAP. It will start mowing down your corals and inhabitants soon. Jim
  7. 250 watt MH HQI bulbs on a 180

IMO, the right side looks so natural and much better. Get 2 more 250W for the center and left. Then keep 2 of the VHO to get some actinics 03 type. You will have a killer combination. Trust me Jim

  9. Help with Acropora Frag I received.

Yummy Pic! In the past, I have used a hammer with a flat-head screwdriver to chisel a SPS frag from the plug. The funny thing is on my first chisel attempt, the force just cleanly seperated the SPS from the plug. It wasn't fully encrusted, so that helped. Just sharing my experience. Jimmy
  10. I am so frustrated that I want to quit...

By the way, may I inquire what kind/brand of float switch you are using? I'm paranoid now after hearing your story. I'm very sorry for your loss. Perhaps, you may want to switch to another float switch since it has shown it is not reliable. Jim
  11. I got a turbelle pump..... holy moly!!!!

Ok, I've read the manufacturer's propaganda. So how's the flow in real life? What kind of flow are you experiencing? Jim
  12. DIY Salt Mix

Hmmm, Perhaps, I could market and sell my own special batch of DIY salt for $10 per pound. I'm going to call it "Miracle Salt." 8O Of course, the ingredients are strickly proprietary and classified information. All kidding aside, don't even think about using Morton salt in your...

  14. Weekly Discussion - Getting rid of reef pests?

As for algae, I say deal with it by pulling it and nutrient control. Also, it can be controlly naturally by snails, nudis, crabs...etc, cut back on feeding, skimmer and refugium export. As for red FW, I would nuke the tank with medication because there is no natural predators and it would...
  15. RE-Cycle? Lost Maxima

Well, it's quite simple really, the problem is that you took out some live rock, and then proceeded to add live sand and rearrange your remaining live rock. Your system has gone out of equilibrium. You took out 25% of your live rock filtration. Then you probably disturbed the sand bed when...
