  1. Had a stroke a few months ago, im now force too call it quit

If you are still following this, I think you should rethink your approach. Having survived a TBI (tramatic brain injury), I would tell you that your reef is a way out of everyday life. You will make many mistakes (I flooded my sunroom multiple times, killed a fair few fish/corals), but it was...
  2. Falling KH!

Brendan checked my Mag down at Skiptons the other day and he said it was right on the money. #300 in change (I forget the exact reading), so I am not worried about that. I use Trpic Marin pro-reef, so I think that salt mixture helps keep all of my paramaters in check. I will do some tests...
  3. Falling KH!

So no mixing of the additives; I can handle that one. It is funny how the more you get into a hobby, the more intricate the hobby become. J.
  4. Falling KH!

So if I have this correct, Magnesium must be dripped weekly, in conjunction to my Kalk top off water? Can in be a month or so between tests? I know this sounds far out, but could I just add the Mag powder to my kalk top off? I was hoping that by using the kalk as my Top Off, I was eliminating...
  5. Falling KH!

My PH stays in the 8.2 - 8.4 range depending upon the time of day, in conjunction with the light cycle. AnemaneBuff; I am using a KH Buffer, so the kalk is to only keep my levels where there are when they the proper level is achieved. I actually dripped with some KH buffer after this post...
  6. Falling KH!

With some advising from you all, I have been using a Kalk top off mixture and really enjoying the benefits. The problem is not with the amount of Kalk mix, as my CA level has been staying at 450ppm for a while now. The problem is that my KH level keeps dropping to the 7/8DKH level, and that is...
  7. Stirring Kalk Mix?

Settled then, I will only use the pump for a few hours while the new powder is being added to the top off bucket. Thanks, J.
  8. Stirring Kalk Mix?

So is it wise to have a tiny Rio pump in my 5gallon Kalk/top off bucket. I thought it would be better to keep the water moving rather then becoming stagnant, but on further thought I wondered if constantly mixing the Kalk is bad for the mixture? I know not to use an air stone (as air depletes...
  9. Who uses garlic extract?

I use it all the time and would highly recommend it. For starters, it always helps my new fish eat and look forward to their next feeding. I have also used it in my quarantine tanks as a daily food soak with noticeable benefits. The main noticeable difference is that the sick fish seem to...
  10. jumping fish?

What about using that Spray on Glue (in a can) you can pick up at Auto Stores. Basically you could spray the egg crate then lay the screen on top in a tight manner. It would look the cleanest, but I am not sure if I fully grasp the issue you are trying to solve. J.
  11. R/O waste water?

Wouldn't it then be more cost effective to just use a two or three stage tap water filter from home depot in this case. Why create the waste if you are only going to reuse it. Just a thought. J.
  12. Aptashia in the Overflow!

Thanks Len, I figure that after I signed off from this site. I went to pick some shrimp up earlier this evening, but the shop was out. I am liking this idea much better now. Not only will it solve the current problem, but it will also help future outbreaks. J.
  13. Aptashia in the Overflow!

Perfect, This was exactly what I was looking for. The vinegar idea is perfect and this will probably be the avenue I take. Len, I would have done the Peppermint idea, but seeing that I have a Dwarf Lion in the tank, I was not going to test his/her fate. However, can the little shrimp live in...
  14. Aptashia in the Overflow!

As I was informed before, aptashia in the overflow can be the reason for new aptashia growing in the display. That stated, help me figure out what to do in this situation. In my overflow there is a fair few aptashia that need to be eradicated. To dificult to individually kill one at a time...
  15. new 46 gallon bowfront

I love my drilled 46bow. For a while all I was using was a CPR Cyclone 200 skimmer, it fit perfectly in the stand. Now however I have moved up to a E.T.S.S. 600 (which by no means will fit in the stand), but I am loving it. A bit of over kill, but since it was given to me I had to jump on the...
