How old is the tank? Is coralline algae growing well? How stable is your ALK?

I would check PO4 and NO3 levels and go from there. Maybe your RO filters need to be changed as you did a WC just prior to leaving?

Use 3/4" PVC, cut a groove on an angle at one end with a hack saw. Works well on coraline.
