  1. 29 gal tank - skimmer needed?

I won't get into a shouting match, I can only tell you what has worked for me and many, many others. IMO no bad advice has been given, you only say that because you don't agree with using an AquaClear, simple as that; which is fine by me ;) Good luck to whatever method you choose as there are...
  2. 29 gal tank - skimmer needed?

Don't really agree with you, but like I said it's just an option. I have kept these filters on reefs up to 50g without a skimmer and never had a problem. It's all in how you establish your balance and your dedication to keep that balance. The AquaClear hardly keeps any particles trapped any more...
  3. 29 gal tank - skimmer needed?

AquaClear's provide mechanical and biological filtration. IMO you could use just an AquaClear for your entire filtration, of course with the addition of live rock, which could also eliminate the need for any powerheads if placed in the right spot (they provide alot of water movement). If you...
  4. 29 gal tank - skimmer needed?

is it 29 g or 20g? because you state your tank is both (subject says 29, your main message states 20) :s Actually Bubbles, those filters work extremely well for salty tanks!
  5. 29 gal tank - skimmer needed?

Nope, a Hagen AquaClear would work just fine alone :)
  6. VHO vs Power Compact

Pc's are brighter, last longer (at least twice as long), and therefore more energy efficient. Heat output of either is generally minimal, though I'd still add a fan. People seem to prefer vho's based on aesthetics, the actinic flourescent output, but overall Pc's are simply the best technology...
  7. RO system drinking water or aquarium?

Just to let you all know, RO water is the best water you can drink compared to anything else. Also, that bottled water people love to drink is the same as filtered tap water, which just removes the chlorine taste. People seem to think that happy little elves sit atop the mountain springs filling...
  8. Anyone keep clams with PC lighting?

The lighting: 3x96 (1) 10k, (1) 8800k, (1) 7100 or 03, should be more than enough light to house clams.
  9. Etropicals

I believe they did and like the clean up packages, free shipping. Not sure why they took it off, perhaps not enough sales on that end or waiting to restock with new stuff
  10. What the hell eats calupera alage

Don't sailfin tangs relish razor caulerpa!? Others have had great success with them
  11. Will snails or crabs hurt my clam?

By the way, I believe squamosas prefer firm substrates rather than rockwork
  12. Will snails or crabs hurt my clam?

I believe the stress of the clam, whatever distress signal it gives off, is what attracts most hermits. Hermits are the main concern, have heard of them attacking clams just after introduction. I simply brushed them off the clam, maxima, every time I saw them even close to the rock it was placed...
  13. Etropicals

Hmm that is very strange because all my emails would be answered within a day. Now I usually just call them to make sure we are on the "same page." I prefer them because of their free shipping on packages, so I will order a small reef package and then add whatever else I want. Another box size...
  14. Etropicals

I have ordered from eTrops many times and I like them even more than ffexpress. Any online retailer can have that happen to them and every online retailer has their share of bad times with live arrival, etc. I do feel bad that your order did not come out the way you wanted, but you should have...
  15. I have snail issues?????

First thing that comes to mind is the Bumble Bee snail, Pusiostoma? If so they are reef safe and tend to burry themselves in the sand bed. Do get a pic to make a positive id though!
