  1. The price of yellow tangs may be going up

Actually, all Tissot discovered was that at one particular time the densities in the collection areas were lower than no collection areas. I certainly agree that this statistic is due to collection. Hard to say though really if densities were increasing in no take areas or falling in take...
  2. green hair algae problem

I have a 225 bare bottom FO that I struggled with some hair algae for a while with. I tried everything including aggressive cleaning, water changes, detritus removal, etc.. It was only after I went after one of the three necessary components (light, nitrates, phosphates) with GFO that I cured...
  3. CRAZY PASSER ANGEL

Would anyone like to share the information on how an individual or LFS might obtain one of these fish? Thanks in advance.
  4. Needs Info of a New Cirrhilabrus

Hiroyuki, You are welcome to use the photos any way you please. I will see if I can get some more pictures for you. The male you see is probably 7-8cm. Phil
  5. Needs Info of a New Cirrhilabrus

Hiroyuki, This fish was sold as a Tonga Flame. I believe it is what you are looking for. I have confirmed with the wholesaler that it did come from a Tonga shipment. I also have two females that this fish will occasionally flash too. They may be Bathyphilus. I will post some...
  6. A few more wrasse photos

I agree. Pictures of the whole tank needed, Len.
  7. How about Chaetodon tinkeri complex ?

All of this group are generally considered reef safe. But as with any butterfly, you take your chances. Mitratus, Declivis and Tinkeri are showing up regularly in the states, but be prepared to pay $200.00-$300.00.
  8. Mystery Wrasse Sex...Gender That Is..

It is looking more and more like that. Maybe somebody will eventually notice that slight difference if it exists.
  9. Mystery Wrasse Sex...Gender That Is..

I tried two 1" juvis. It didn't work. One had to go. You are right. It is an expensive fish so it is hard to find two together anywhere but maybe the wholesaler.
  10. Mystery Wrasse Sex...Gender That Is..

Do we know any more these days about identifiable physical gender differences between Mystery Wrasses? I would like to have more than one in the tank.
  11. Is this fair?

Hey, how about that! No one has attacked anybody personally and someone actually developed a legitimate plan for beginning to deal with the issue. I will add, however, that it seems that the wholesale drygoods issue needs to be addressed as well.
  12. The Irony

GreshamH, thats one way of looking at it. I do not believe that is the reality of the situation based upon my experiences and those of others I know. If one or more of the well respected members of any of the hobbyist forums bought a fish from DRF&S and that/those fish died and maybe their...
  13. Would you care for a little cheese with your whine?

Danieldm, you are absolutely correct. Most B&M don't understand what is going on and are too ignorant to change anyway. Most need to be saved from themselves. Someone had better step up and save them. The thought process cannot be how do we get rid of DRF&S because that ain't gonna happen...
  14. Would you care for a little cheese with your whine?

I'll give you what I believe to be the correct answer STR. Based on my observations DR. Mac gets no real preferential treatment. He doesn't have that great a selection. In the case of DRF&S, I believe they get the best of their primary wholesalers inventory. My question at this point is does...
  15. The Irony

Hello all. I have got to believe that there are many, many hobbyists and industry folks lurking in on these recent discussions. I usually don't post much on any of the reef/aquarium forums just to help reduce the noise level. However, I have decided that I would like to interject my opinions...
