  1. Anybody using a Gemini powerhead?

I love the pumps. I just wish they had a more realistic type of hanger/bracket setup.
  2. GPH??

Personally, I go against the grain of normal. I do not have a sump. I only use my refugium. And for the 29 gallon tank, I flow about 1200 gph though it. I have a 3" or so DSB, and I keep dead acro's as the next level (got them from previous tank owner that had a FOWLR). Then I let the macro grow...
  3. Coral Hermit Crabs - anyone have these?

I have three of them in a Xmas tree tube worm rock. Cool looking little guys. hope they don't decide to remove other worms for different holes though.

What kind of eel is Mvc-831x ?
  5. Ice Cap Tech Question

As long at they were wired correctly before, it will run the two 48" NO bulbs just fine. You could even change the wiring and run 4 x 48" NO bulbs over the FW tank with cheap 6500k bulbs at Home Depot to make FW plants grow like crazy.
  6. Help: Hammer Coral Damage

If you keep the area between the two heads very clean, without any algea, and they heads connect, they could re-grow over the damaged spot. Good luck.
  7. Problem with Heliopora coerulea (blue ridge coral)

Did you get any pictures of this yet? I would say that something might have got on the coral to irritate it enough to do something bad. Say if the blue ridge was covered in it's own slime, and some slime from another coral gets stuck to it and does a little chemical damage (like from a yellow...
  8. HELP WITH STOLEN CLAM IN BAY AREA, CA.

Clams can go hours in the open air. So taking it out of the tank is not that hard on them. Unfortunately some people use this information poorly.
  9. Problem with Heliopora coerulea (blue ridge coral)

Are your white areas on prominent points? Growth on these corals can sometimes be mistaken for decay. And what are the current params of the tank, anything change to effect this coral? These corals prefer much higher temperatures then most other corals, so lower temperatures seem to slow their...
  10. Inside overflow box floating - Help!

You can easily add a baffle on the outside box to keep the water level higher. It also helps keep bubbles out of the U tube. Also, how did you connect the inside box that you can't tighten somehting down to keep it submerged? Most setups you buy have slots where the inside box has plastic...
  11. Almost Free Silent Overflow !!!

Great to hear that you are happy with it. It is very simple, and very cheap. While I do like the Durso mod, this is one very easy way to quite overflows especially when using small overflow boxes. I have, since this earlier post, stepped up with both my return pump, and overflow box. And now I...
  12. best place to order pods and worms?

Setup a refugium and get some fresh LR, uncured preferably. Let this be your 'starter kit'. I have found the most life and diversity come from LR. After letting this settle out, and do remember to feed this refugium as well. Then order or trade for whatever critters you didn't manage to get with...
  13. Out of curiosity....

80 Reef (29 gallon refugium, but has tubastria, and a eel) 55 FOWLR 15 hex reef FW, wife's tanks. 60 African 25 Eclipse, eel and puffer 10 guppy
  14. Scallops

Also note that these scallops do NOT like to be seen. They like to hide a lot. So when it moves to the back of a nice dark spot, leave them there, don't force them to be somewhere out in the open all the time, this only stresses them out more. And they will move again anyway. And as stated...
  15. Reliable float switch?

All I need is a reliable float switch to kick my peristaltic pump on/off. I plan on making a little acrylic box around the switch to keep critters off it, and also to eliminate air bubbles and splashes from effecting it.
