  1. Stunningly patterned/colored reef-safe starfish?

The star with the best survuval rate in the home aquaria is the Linckia Multiflora. I tried to add an image, but this BB won't allow prentheses within UBB code. However, I have included a hyperlink to a google page with numerous references to above mentioned echinoderm: Linckia Multiflora
  2. what are these grey zooanthids?

  3. Reefcentral HaHa

Good question. I see you hock water filters for aquaFX. Gee what's the whole story?
  4. What's going to happen chemically if i bleach and vinegar a

In a nutshell: Mustard gas Mixing a chlorinated product with an acid produces mustard gas. It's the first thing I train employees on when they start working sanitation for me. Granted my chemicals are quite a bit stronger and the health hazard posed is far greater. However . . .
  5. Before Low Flow and now too Much!!! Why?

It may be hard to balance the system. First fill the aquarium completely full with water. Second fill the sump until the water level is just below the working range of the mag pump. Start the overflow and let it drain the tank as low as it will go to ensure that the sump will not overflow...
  6. Ich,low calcium, hair algae

Just start over with the same sand. You're going to have to go through the whole cycling process again. If you have dead bodies in the tank, leave'em. They're going to be a good source of nutrient for the nitrogen cycle to get restarted. Leave the lights off for the first couple of weeks...
  7. Inland Reef has a cold water aquarium going...

PNW anemone can be some of the most beautiful. When I took Invert Zoo. in college we used a cold tank because specimens are cheaper and are found locally. Imagine a large red anemone with white spots like a blood shrimp. Oustanding!
  8. anyone for south dakota on here??

    GO, Jackrabbits! (back to top)
  9. Almost Free Silent Overflow !!!

That's pretty much the same design as a Marinland SOS overflow.
  10. Almost Free Silent Overflow !!!

Actually, its a rigid line that's supposed to be moved up and down to adjust the water level in the back box, but it's the same principle. Never got it to work right . . .
  11. Do Peppermint Shrimp eat bristleworms?

I second fishtalk. Pepermints will consume worms. Almost all cleaner shrimps will to some degree or another.
  12. Mag 5 or 7 for AquaC EV-90?

    manufacturer (Jason) recommends the 5
  13. Can a sponge be cut?

Go for it. A full sized sponge can grow from a single cell. It just takes a long time.
  14. LR vs DSB: the next great debate

One should always keep in mind the fact that as the tank matures, and corraline algae begins to form, LR loses much of its value in nitrate conversion as the multiple small tunnels in the rock with a waterflow low enough to support anaerobic bacteria are grown over and sealed.
  15. Refugium: reverse light or 24/7?

24/7 Let's be realistic here. Algaes are very simple plants. They do not need a dark period. period. There is always some discussion about a plant's light cycle versus it's dark cycle. There are two cycles in a photosynthetic arganism the photosynthetic cycle and the respiration cycle...
