Hee hee... Too funny!! Plenum, no plenum, bug chunks, fine sand. It makes no difference!!
Of course, folks will keep arguing the point for a long time 'cause if you like something enough, you will find "reasons" for their system to be better.

When I was in Oz in August, several people pointed out to me that the majority of the new protected areas are actually open water outside the actual barrier reef. The actual increase in reef to be protected is minimal.
Does anyone have access to maps showing the proposed new protected areas...
I heartily agree with Owain. This is a must read forum for me.
In fact, with the increased participation of those actively involved in conservation and reform, I have found the amount of quality content on this forum has increased greatly since its inception.

Go Kalk go!!
I really do enjoy these posts. Its not often you can get your entertainment so nicely mixed in with your hard science.

Lets not get too smug though. Take the case of the codfish fishery collapse on the grand banks or the dissapearing salmon fishery on the west coast. Nobody cares to get it, exept those directly affected by the collapsing resource.
No, this is not directed at you Mike. I know you know better...
In most other industries, when there is an opportunity for a fairly large shift, it dosn't usually come from the large companies that dominate the industry, but from new entrants.
If you have an industry where the major players implement "deterents" to change, you have exactly the problems we...
And somehow, I don't think that the exporters would take it sitting down.
I suspect this would be a large deterent.
You do understand that it would translate directly into higher costs for hobbyists, right?
Havn't run into anything besides DIY that makes the hobby less expensive. Come to...
It made for a very interesting read, thanks Mike.
His article shows a different view of collection issues and paints some of the exporters in a different light.
I wonder if the collectors can effectively form a co-op to export net caught fish, bypassing the less scrupulous (sp?) exporters?

Reef-rat and Sea-squirrel. Sounds like an updated version of that famous moose and squirrel duo
And what are our favourite super-heros up to this week?
Fred.
I just visited your site. I would like to see the text for the metering pump translated into english. I would like to build 2 or 3 of these for a rotifer culture system.

Very nicely done projects!
The testing for the s15 report were done by an independant lab so the results are valid. It is the interpretation that is suspect.
I believe that the s15 testing showed that the Aquacraft salts are lower in heavy metals than other salts, as is the other salt that Dr. Ron had success with in...
nothing like two overflows for piece of mind.
Came home one day and the tank level was a little higher than normal. It turned out that one of the overflow screens was out of place and a snail had wedged itself into one of the overflows.
I will never have another tank with just one overflow

Jen. I am more than happy that my government has been getting itself out of more and more. Don't think I'd go so far as to shoot the tax collector though :D :D .
By government I was thinking of this side of the ocean. The most drastic solution will be to ban certain countries. Thats the...
