  1. anyone use old type air driven skimmer???

I used an air driven skimmer in my early reef keeping days. But as, danmhippo mentioned changing the wooden air diffuser every week or so was a real pain in the @*. Not to mention the cost of buying quality wooden air diffuser gets to be expensive. Also like danmhippo mentioned, every air...
  2. Temp swings

Even if you don’t seem to see any stress on your live stock, a temp swing from 72-79 seems pretty harsh, especially for a nano system. The swing in temp would be much faster in a small nano, compared to a large tank. I think I would be looking to finding the cause of the temp swing and fix it...
  3. Are these cameras any good for taking reef pics.

I get wicked results with a $300.00 digital Kodak. I have seen many reef/coral pictures on the forums from digital cameras that cost as low as $150.00 that look as good or better than most professional pictures I have seen. So If you can’t get a half decent picture from an $800.00 camera, then...
  4. Anyone interested in having photos of their fish published?

If you get paid the same with or with out a photo attached to your article, then why do you need the photos? There must be a reason for you to go threw all the trouble setting up everyone who submits a photo to you with the publisher. It seems to me that the “photos” will help you “sell” your...
  5. Underwater Digital Photo Online Chat

I agree with Baalz, the color contrast needs to be changed, too hard to read the text. Also you need to resize your tables so the viewer does not need to scroll to the right to see the whole page, a common mistake for first time web page makers. Other than that, it looks like a good start.
  6. Has anyone built a glass tank

I would defiantly go 1/2 on that thank size. Also check with your local glass shop, you can buy 1/2 used glass for the sides and bottom (Stuff they may have removed from a department store window or something) and it will cost you a lot less. You can then buy a new piece of glass for the front...
  7. Has anyone built a glass tank

I built a few tanks over the years. What I did was go to my local glass shop with the dimensions for the tank and had them cut it for me. (Very cheap I think around $1.00 a cut back then) I also asked them to use used glass for the sides, back and bottom. (Most glass shops keep glass that is in...
  8. pvc goop toxic?

Same here I have used both for years with no problems, allow it to dry over night to be sure it is fully cured before you use it, and you should be ok.

  15. New Digital Temperature Controller, need your input

Hi, we are currently in the final design stages of our digital display temperature controller. We need some input from fellow members, as to the temperature in which most would consider "Safe" and which temperature you would consider "Low" to activate an auxiliary heater. And which temperature...
