They sure look ugly in the nightime don't they. When I first saw mine at night I thought it had died and started to decompose. Wonder why the dramatic molted color change at night?
I utilize the remote DSB in my tank. the main tank has about a 1/2" layer of fine crushed coral and the refugium has a 5" to 6" layer of sugar sized sand. Works fine for me. I don't test for nitrates but no appreciable algae is present.
It MAY be strong enough, but the acrylic will bow out considerably adding a lot of visual distortion to the tank. Basically the tank will be a big eyeball?

Anybody have any comments which is a better powerhead the Gemini or the Aquaclear 5000. From the specs they appear to pump the same volume of water (950gph). The Aquacear is a bit cheaper nd can be completely submersed.
