I agree with SteveNichols, hell with that you paid good money u should get good equipment flat out ....... and I've owned about a half dozzen ballast over the years and never had a noisy 1 yet.. knock on wood. HTH....Boots

Almost forgot for lighting your refugium try a clamp on shop lamp for HD with a 60 watt grow light, should be all you'll need.

You may want to drill the acrylic sump or just go buy another rubbermaid container @ HD for about $4.00 and drill it instead andput in a bulk head,then u can elevate the refugium above ur sump and get a small pump in your sump to pump water into the refugium and then just let the water flow...

Well I must say that u are off to a very nice start! where do you buy most of your corals etc. around this area I have noticed that REEFING is not very popular down here.
