I struggle with the temp issue as well. I find that if I leave the small feeder lid open half way I can get my temp below 84. It sounds like you're doing all the right things...any chance the meter is not properly callibrated?

Gorgeous tank. Word of advice on the new Goby, make sure he/she has lots of pods to eat otherwise they will slowly starve to death. Also, that little yellow cutie pie might like to nip at LPS. Just my humble experience.

biocube led unfortunately not. But I can dim all the way down but the strips are mixed blues and whites and not seperate.

I bought a kit on ebay and paid an electrician to come and gut my hood and mount the strips. The best thing I did. Excellent light, no heat issues and the everything pops. It was pricey but don't have to worry about changing bulbs for next 10 years. Here's the link if anyone's interested...
