Open Brain needs help

I have this piece about 3 years. It is over 6 inches across. I suspect my goby started nibbling on it yesterday and there is over a square inch missing. Flesh is firm not like when it disintegrates. The goby is history but is there any chance of the brain living. I have never had success with a brain once some skeleton is visible.
Picture is over a year old with the goby perched in it.

Hi, i have had the same issue with my green open-brain when it was in my 92 corner. i moved it a few months ago to a new 10gl tank i setup. the 10gl has no fish, just corals and it is doing awesome now. placement and lighting also played a big part also.
