How does position of bulbs in a fixture affect lighting?

Just bought all new bulbs for my 6 bulb t5. How does the placement front to back affect the overall color/light spread of the tank in the tank.

The bulb in front if the corals will reflect the color facing towards you.

Well you want whichever bulb to light up where the corals are located. Keep in mind most corals will be facing you so concentrate the daylights more forward.
For example.
a 6 bulb maybe set up like this. Front/Top Back/Bottom

white (Can be any other light you choose)
