First crab I ever found in one of my tanks..good or bad?
He's a tiny bit less than 1/2". Kinda cute as crabs go with pretty green eyes :) Second pic shows his actual color.
thxs!

Not to disagree with anyone, but he doesn't look like the pics of Gorilla Crabs I've been researching.
I'd still like to get an ID on him and need to figure out where to put him in the sump that he doesn't end up back in the tank if I move some stray piece of rock...
Happy that I found him though!

I think they might be known as acro crabs because they frequently hitch hike on them, but I still don't think its reef safe.

Crabs in general are a pain. I had some hermits that would just step on my zoos rather than go around it :(.

They will take the most direct route, even if it means climbing over something, to get to their food.
But if you ever get successful in changing their natural instincts, let me know. I got a pretty macro algae I want to put in my display but can't because my tang will eat it. I only want him to eat the nuisance algae. :lol2:

Its a general rule, not an absolute rule
and this isn't an emerald, but yes, they are generally reef safe but can knock things over if its not secure, but sometimes may pick on corals, depending on their personality
