Question Black or dark purple on live rock

I picked up some live rock to seed my tank and there’s these black or dark purple spots on the rock. Anyone know what algae or if this is okay? One pic is from a few days ago the other is today after I pulled a little bit off.

The purple is coralline algae the black looks like a sponge. Purple is good, the sponge looks like it’s dying if black. Remove the sponge if it deteriorates.

Looks like the black is "chicken liver" sponge. It will vary in color between pure white to gray to black depending on how much light it gets. I'd leave it myself.

yes i meant that sponge looking stuff. just making sure its not something bad. i messed with it a little but didnt want to get too crazy. Thanks!
