algae

I have white slimy looking algae on my rocks not many just a couple.

Is this a cause for concern? It transfers from rock to rock. any suggestions?

algea is usually not white

That is a strange way to describe algae 'many', couple'. Do you mean patches of algae? And how big are they. Also it usually does not move from one place to another, it spreads. Unless it is plant like. Are you sure it is not some kind of animal?

I cleaned it with a brush and it has not come back. Might have been bad water i used to top off my system.

Im sorry for not being clear. It was stringy and slimy looking that flowed maybe 2 or 3 strands total about 1inch to 2 inch in length.

but all gone now.
