Guys what is the level u shoot for I just checked mine it's 1200 reason I checked is cause my dkh is stable but calcium dropping I just installed a cal reactor and read 1 reason my cal would drop but not my dkh is cause my mag is low !
So is 1200 low enough to effect my calcium?????

I don't think 1200 is low enough to create a real issue with your calcium. The Mag should be around 1300 so you're not that far off. I think magnesium is one of the more ignored levels and is the cause of a lot of the problems people have with keeping their Ca and Alk balanced.

Ryan, 1650-1700 sounds kind of high and you might end up with other problems keeping it elevated for a long time.

It would need to go higher, I've hit 1900 when trying to kill bryopsis, but that isn't even a 100% remedy. Plus that is only for bryopsis, I've never seen it work on other algaes. Keeping your mag that high for an extended period will probably have negative effects. It's better to just keep your nutrients down.

when i raised my mag up to 2000, it killed all my bryopsis and GHA, turned it white. since then its been at 1600 and said like that for the past 2 months now and algae never came back and everything seems to be growing faster then normal...

I guess you could say that. I mean almost every vendor uses it now and is one of the most highest in demand for most shops and rarely do you ever see something bad about it ( has there ever been ONE negative comment?) And with out a doubt the best salt I have ever used and will never change back to IO... yeah I guess you could say its "that good".:scratchch. LOL

As far as making 50 gallon batches. Esv sells 25, 50, and 200 gallon boxes.
You could just buy 50 gallon boxes and Dump and mix
Tropical island and pets warehouse sell ESV salt.
Tropical island cost 35.00 with tax for the 50 gallon mix. Plus it gives you an excuse to spend some time in the store. That place is nuts!!!!

1350. Then within a 3 week period I every day dosed mag and slowly raised it.( note that during this time I had no corals in the tank.) Then when It all turned white and died I dropped it to 1600 and try to keep it just so if I see any come back, it won't take 3 weeks to raise my mag levels because during those 3 weeks are when it starts to grow out of control

I'm sure don can get it, but he hasn't been stocking much ESV products lately.

I use 50gal from saltwater critters. Get it in 1 day. Like $8 to ship.

But the shipping on the 200gal kit cost as much as the salt.
