Was wondering why I'm doing so many water changes,Anyway wanted to test the water I've made and it was like 7 and changed out the 1 micron block and even the carbon is new.The DI resin does not look exhausted so now it measures 1 which is not good enough for me but better than 7.Ordered some resin to see if that will make a difference.Hopefully it's not the membrane.It's not that old.

if after you changed out all the filters/DI resin and still reading a # after about 5-6 gallons through it then it's the membrane..most are good for 2-3 years depending on amount of usage and how bad the orginal water is going in...I've have read and heard that if they are back flushed it will extend their lifespan, but I never tried it..maybe someone else can chime in..

Plus I've been skimping on the micron filters and buying the ones from Walmart.Big no no.lol.Went back to buying from BRS.

How bad is a reading of 6 tds my tap is in the 200s

WOW, i thought my TDS meter was off cause it read 00 on my RO/DI. guess i'm good.

Matt ..do you have a DI on it..6 is high...I change all my filters when it reads 2

waaaay past!....don't change filters by their age, but what the TDS meter reads. With your tap over 200 you'll be changing filters more often than norm...

Mike do they sell the replacements at home depot I need the carbon the micron and the DI resin ?

I suggest getting it from BRS.Home depot might have all but the DI I believe but it's not really geared for reef systems IMO.

Yeah thig is if I go to home depot I can pay cash or tell the wife I needed new tools for work if I order from brs I have to explain to my wife why these filters r more important then saving for a house lol

yea HD has them, check the micron rating on them you want a pre and carbon with a 1 or 5 micron nothing higher, but not DI resin..it's also more expensive there than BRS or other online places...I can send you a link to the place I get them.

Ok cool I'll check HD tommorrow there's one right by the job I'm on if I can change the carbon and micron till I can get the resin maybe the tds will come down

a TDS meter (total disolved solvents) mine is made by Hanna and a reading of 0 from your water filtration system is optimal

Is yours measured in "ppm"or "ppt" ? Is 0 the only acceptable reading?
