Does anyone have this in their tank and or an opinion on (Hispaniolan) live rock? Any pics of a tank set up with one? Is it really the "lightest" and most "skeletous" live rock out there? (Some of there retailers are claiming it is)

From what I've seen in pics, haitian live rock looks awesome in my opinion.

Not sure if they're better but they look porus and has very cool shapes (I never saw Haiti rock in person). Regular fiji rock sucks IMO. For example 20 lbs of the kaelini + branch rock I just sold was enough to fill a 30gal tank, 20lbs of regular fiji does not have nearly the volume because its so dense.

Rich,

I have to agree with you. The Tongo is a lot more porous and looks really cool too. I think I may have gotten a piece that looks like haitian from you the other day.

I was considering getting some awhile back. It was cheap (pre hurricanes) and the claim was that it would be "teaming with life" since it didn't have to be shipped so far (less die off).

I ended up going the Fiji route because I read that aquascaping Haitian was like "stacking plates". Also if memory serves it was sedimentary making it heavier then fiji or tonga. I might be wrong though. The pics seem to back up that Hatiain is flat like plates. Those pics look like they used epoxy to glue the rocks together at angles rather than stacking. Still looks cool.

yep, the "leaves" of the "lettuce" are easy to break off during shipping, leaving you with mostly flat heliopora-type plates.

also keep in mind the rock has little or no coralline.
