The light rails looks cool but does anyone use them on small tanks?I'm planing an upgrade to MH soon and would like to know the brawbacks and which one would be suitable for a 90 gal.48X18X21.Thanks!

I have seen them in use at Thatfishplace in their store. They look like they work very well. The corals are very healthy.

And you can see the type of tank it was placed on.

Imo, i think its going to be alot of money for a 90g compared to an extra MH lamp to light the other side of the tank. And it won't add much on a 48" tank except for the coolness factor of a moving light which is pretty badass to have in your hood and varying intensities of the MH across the tank. I think they work alot better for larger tanks that are able to support 2 rows of halides, optimal for frag type strip tanks.

I would say over a 90 it wouldn't really be a good thing. TFP has them over their coral tank that is about 15 or more feet.

The Manhattan Aquarium have a very impressive setup.I noticed that if you are observing a coral the light passes,then you are in the dark for a few sec.I don't think i could tolerate that for too long.Thanks guys.
