Hi i'm unfortunate to say that i have worked for fishtown. I had just recently read the previous posts regarding the racism at fishtown. I am asian and i never really understood why kathy was so mean to me and i just thought she was one of those people that when you get on their bad side you can never get off. Of course i never figured out how i got on her bad side, but i had never thought this was a racist issue. She never showed me any sign of racism though i was not looking for them. However my fellow workers have told me kathy, bob (the weekend manager) and Mike were saying negative racist things behind my back. Just to let you guys know how things work in fishtown from the inside. They forced us to sell products that were unnecessary to uneducated costumers. They pressured us to sell as much as we can and if our numbers were low they would yell at us. Not only that when we were trying to educate our costumers they would yell at us for taking too long with the costumers and not making money. And another rip off scandall that they are guilty of is the water testing. If you are new to the hobby and you brought your water for testing they would force us to lie and sell you even more products so they wouldn't have to give them fish credit. The quality of the fish are horrible. i would scoop the dead fish daily and there would be tons and tons of dead fish. As stated before you guys don't need me to tell you that kathy will drive this business to the ground i would hear how horrible she was daily! If you are questioning my credibility i will gladly answer all your questions.

Yeah, that all sucks. I'd rater patronize the smaller joints where the owner is an aquarist himself. Plus, my new spot is closer & gives me 10% off

So true as to what yo say.

As customers we should also stand our ground. I have a BIG client who is ASIAN but his worker still decided to shop from Fishtown even though he read threads from this board simply because FT is selling them cheap. I told my client's worker that I would order the couple boxes(for real-couple boxes) of the fish for my cost(the client is a friend of mine, he's been in some of my pics in threads) plus $100 pick up fee from the airport so that he can get the fish without having a bad chance of getting disease in Ft's tank or copper. The worker still go to FT where they sell the who package just $50 less than me out of a ~$4500 order(initially). Of course,, Ft may finally under cut me even more just to make sure they can lock in the customer. I did not bother to ask the worker anymore because I feel so sad for my friend who probably has unintentionally helped a store which discriminate( I know this, not from your threads, but personal experience before all these come to light) against him.

How can you expect the customers to come back to you regularly if you the fish that are sold to them are all in good health? FT makes no aquarist's sense, but good business sense.

Ive been a faithful customer of FT for several yrs. Ive had my ups and downs with them and did feel at times they were telling me things that were incorrect. As a gay man I can no longer shop at a store that judges someone for the color of their skin. Ive been judged and I know its not a good feeling.

Hi Fuzzydrawf.

I am very curious why are Fishtown fishes in so bad health?

Is it from there supplier? water?

of course I would never buy from them.

I don't know why we keep resurrecting Fishtown.
Can't we just let this offensive place fall off the home page & into oblivian instead of giving them more press?
