Ph Probes

Broke my Ph probe yesterday trying to get it out of the fitting i have it in for inline use and was wondering if anyone has any info on these Ph probes http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/PH/ORP/TDS-Monitors-&-Controller-Generic-Probes/c66_84/index.html

Also how bad is the fluid inside the probe for the tank inhabitants :?:

Most of the pH meter are of the calomel electrode type, so you will be dealing with Hg2Cl2 and KCl. If you have one with silver electrode, then it is AgCl and KCl. The solution you see is probably KCl, and it is pretty harmless, but the calomel has mercury.
