What is a skimmer mesh mod?

What is a skimmer mesh mod and how do you install it. I want to make my octopus 110 skimmer better. I was thinking about getting a better pump like the octopus 3000 NW pump. I've been told that it will be too strong for this skimmer. My skimmers pump at the moment pumps 260gph. I was then thinking of upgrading the pump to the octopus 2000 NW pump that pumps 500gph. Will this upgrade be good for a better efficiency of skimming and aeriation? I was told to mesh mod the skimmer, but I dont know what that is.

Mesh modding is when you attach some type of plastic mesh to the impeller of the needlewheel pump. It takes a bit of experimenting, as all pumps and skimmers are different. The idea is simply to add more material to chop up the bubbles inside the pump.

Do a search on Google. Its easy. Get some Enkamat PF4 cut 4 squares to fit your needle wheel. Cut all the needles off the wheel. Drill 4 holes (1 each next to the hole already there) use 4 tie wraps to secure and trim.
