heres a thought. i work in the custom home and car audio business for a side job. i install movie theaters in people's houses. and i use a product made by monster cable which is a power strip but it has a neat feature to filter the power supply and filter out all the garbage in the power supply. thus you get cleaner power for your equipment and it runs on less power and you get better performance from the equipment. so on a whim i decided to try it on my tank equipment and noticed my bulbs are brighter and it actually reduced the noise from some of the equipment(the hummm). so i was wondering if anybody wants one of these to really test it out on a wide range of equipment. i dont have the tools to monitor the equipment so i cant scientifically prove it. i will see it to who ever at my cost (which is wholesale). as long as you are going to test it out and give us a report on how it does. e-mail me and i will set something up.

That's very very interesting. I have a bunch of power filters lying around, and I'm gonna try it out this weekend and see what happens. But there's a good chance I won't see marked improvements since my house has surprisingly clean, constant power. Someone else is a better candidate to see if it makes a big difference.

Hmmmm... I wonder if this is the same reason they say not to use an electrical adapter on pH monitors (battery only) as the current from the power supply is supposed to skew the readings. :?:

i have 3 models that are made by monster cable model #'s mphts1000, mphts2000, and mphts2500. they retail between $150-$300 for the big one. these models alll have the 2 stage power filtration on them. i would sell them for considerably less but i dont want to put the price in here. e-mail me if anyone is serious about this. im very curious as to how they actually do in tests. BTW my electric bill was $20 less this month.

hi.
Most of the pH meters we use in this hobby is piece of junk when it comes to power supply because they do not have a decent voltage regulator. When an AC adapter is used, the noise from the outlet is not filtered out properly, and since pH meter is nothing but a voltmeter (well, very close to truth...), the noise will skew the reading, as you said.

There are some interference and problem with X10 when used with other equipement, since X10 transmits signal via the 110VAC line. This is one main reason I stayed away from X10 when I choice my controllers.

For some equipement, it is very important to have clean power. However, I am a bit skeptical about the fact that you can actually see the difference in brightness.

Power consumption of an equipement can be measure easily with an ampmeter. Just measure the amperage before and after the use of the power filter and see if you can see any difference.

its a 2 stage filter and conditioner. i have very dirty power as it comes from detroit through about 100miles of cable before it come to me. i have noticed a diff in light output and noise. hell it worked for me. i just wanted somebody who could test it. i cant afford to go but equipment to test it and if somebody had the equipment and could afford to buy one and let everybody know about it.
