In Australia, we don't have access to the immense body of information and suppliers that you have in the US. I find these forums very helpful, and some of you have been most generous in responding to my e-mails.
I've been researching the issue of Iwasaki "yellowness". Although the majority of people seem to complain of this colour cast, a few don't, and they say they don't see any yellow at all (don't say "colour blind"!) Some say that burning an Iwasaki on an MV ballast makes it burn brighter and whiter. Others say that when an Iwasaki has burned for about 100 hours, it becomes whiter.
I have a few questions to which I hope some of you will contribute a response:
1. Iwasaki manufactures an MV ballast which they say is suitable for use with their globes (the globe contains the ignitor). The model number is EH250 (or 400, as the case may be).
Is there anyone using this ballast, and if so what do you think of the colour of the Iwasaki lamp? (Or any other comments.)
2. Some people say that Iwasaki changed its manufacturing process a couple of years ago to make the lamp burn whiter.
Does anyone know anything about this, and if so what?
3. On these threads I've seen mention of "carbon resistor" in relation to Iwasaki lamps. One person wrote, "Not sure about the newer carbon resistor models on MV, though."
Can anyone explain this to me?
4. Except for the person I've corresponded with recently, could anyone who thinks their Iwasakis burn white please post their experience, including the type of ballast, etc.
I'll very much appreciate any responses to these questions.
