Is it ok to use a razorblade to trim the silicone on my tank so my Overflow boxes mount flush to the glass?
Thanks,
David

Where do you want to trim? I WOULD NOT trim the silicon in a corner. you can weaken the whole joint. Then you have wet carpet.

Bingo, I need to trim about 1/4 inch of silicone 6 inches down from the back corners and 1/4 silicone 5inches and 7inches out on the top of the tank where the plastic trim meets the glass. I hope this makes sense. I made 3 sided skimmer boxes to put in the upper corners.

David, it would be hard to say without being there and seeing what you are wanting to do. I will say that trimming the silicone at the frame, the small amount you say, will not weaken the tank. Trimming it 6" down in the tank I would be concerned about a leak.
