Detroit Area Aquarists

How many folks out there are from the Detroit area? I am looking at either starting or joining a local MASNA chapter or something similar. I was also thinking about maybe creating an entire online organization where meetings could be held online. These are just ideas, but I would like to see how many people there are from the Detroit area that would be interested in creating a website with e-mails or something with the frags they have and want to trade. I have access and ability to create a nice site that could do this.

I live in Dearborn and I think Troy/Novi is to far to drive to attend the URL=http://www.masm.org/]MASM[/URL] meetings.
In the past I have spoke with several different people about a "casual" "Downriver" club or group but everyone, including my self, has too busy to get it going.

Troy is too far to drive from Dearborn??? Wuss! I drove from Ann Arbor to Troy (only took 45 min) for the meetings. MASM also has an email ring for discussions and trading information as well. MASM is pretty cool, we have a good amount of members and quite a few good speakers. We only meet from like Sept or Oct-May, so take that as you will. But there are plenty Detroit area aquarists.

I am going to create a website where members from cities can signup, starting with the detroit area, that will have online chat for meetings and a trading post for local people. Essentially when you signup for the membership (initially free) we can work that out as the first chapter afterwards, and add whatever frags or anything else. I am going to use the domain www.myaquarium.org, unless the local folks feel like something else should be good. Please e-mail me at [email protected] with further questions. I will try to keep you all posted with the site status. I plan on working on it this weekend.

It is a great idea to do local trades. I am going to be a member of MASM this year but driving for 45 min is a bit of a drive.

there is not much there at the moment I am still working on it, but hopefully this weekend it will be close, at least be able to log in and do some things.
