why this sand is too expensive? is it because it holds high ph? does crushed coral do the same? what is better crushed coral or aragamax? I need a lot of sand for my new tank, but I want to get the best sand but I don't know which one is the best... I have some live sand ready to "sow life" in my new sand bed

Not sure about aragmax, but CC are quite coarse, and traps detritus too easily. Try to find some other fine grade aragnite sand for better result. I suppose you are using DSB instead of plenum, right?

Thanks Danmhippo, you are right, I'm using DSB, I just find aragonite reef sand, I think that's the best option.... But I still thinking why aragamax is special?

If you can get it in your area Southdown Tropical Play Sand is the way to go. Perfect size for a DSB and CHEAP!! It is aragonite and perfect for the reef.

Good Luck

The aragamax is the fine ooalite (sp?) thus its the tiny stuff, I like aragamax select, better stuff... this is what most use for the lower portion of their dsb.
