I have a DIY Sanjay Joshi Ca reactor and have maintained my Ca at 400 and Alk at 12-13. My critters were always happy at these levels. I then replaced some media, and in the process fiddled with the bubble count. At few weeks ago, I tested my levels and found them to be a bit lower (380/12), so I decided to boost the levels with an additive. I had no more B-Ionic, so I picked up some Seachem Reef Builder and Reef Advantage (their two-part stuff).
Well my reactor maintains my levels pretty well, when adjusted, but I figured the additive could boost the levels better. I read the directions, and added two standard doses of each on successive days. This was supposed to raise my Alk/Ca by .25 (Meq this time) and 25.
I tested this a.m. at >16dKh (Salifert only goes to 16) and 490.
Is this a bad thing? The alk is almost twice what Seawater should be, and Ca is higher than NSW levels too?
The critters all look happy (a lot of SPS, a some LPS).
I'm wondering if I should try to maintain supersaturated levels, or get closer to NSW.
What do you folks do? (Especially folks w/reactors)
Thanks
