I've recently decided convert my 75 gal fresh water tank into a fish only salt water. Unfortunately, it's empty right now. Anyway, during my research I came across a wet/dry filter manufacturer named Oasis Aquatic Manufacturing. Their filters appear to be very similar to CPR's (overflow, sponge, compartments, built in skimmer, etc.) but, much less expensive. Is there anyone out there who has seen or used one?

Thanks

I am using the overflow box, works just like the more expensive brands. I cannot comment on the other parts.

Why are you looking for a wet/dry system? I had mine for less than a year before I got rid of it. Are you sure you don't want to try a DSB or live rock instead?

Or he could use all the componets listed and have a system that can handle a sudden increase in bio load without worring about the whole thing crashing.

I do think it unfair to someone new to just mention Sand and rock and not mention all the other systems people use in thier sumps and refugiums. If it were a case of rock and sand only handleing an increase in bio load from a fish dying people would not be trying to upgrade thier systems.

Many people use different systems and everytime someone posts a question about wet/drys someone who was unsuccessful operating one chims in. I do not believe that is quality advice. If you do not know how to use a piece of equipment just say so but there is no need in saying something bad when it is known that others use them ver successfully and have benifits that are not achieved with other means.

Just because someone is unsuccesful operating a motor vehicle does not mean we need to stop using them.

I agree with CWA. Although some people use this system sucessfully, IMO by far the majority are using live sand and rock in this hobby now.

Thanks for all the responses. I have spent a bit of time researching, and decided that wet /dry was the best way to go for me. Obviously, I'm new to salt water side of the hobby, and I figured that a fish only tank was the best first step and that a wet/dry would handle the bio load well. Additionally, wet/dry seemed a little more "turn key" than and sump or refugium. On top of that, I live in an apartment and there is always the possibility of having to move. I would rather have to break down a normal FO tank than one with live rock and a sand bed.
Again, I appreciate all the input and suggestions (keep 'em coming). However, is there anyone out there who has used Oasis Aquatics?
