pH meter recommendations needed

I am looking into getting a pH meter and have a question for those of you with answers...
Is there a difference between the pH meters marketed to the aquarium industry and the ones marketed toward the hydroponics industry? If so what are they and what brands do you recommend?

Hi Cindy; I wouldn't think there is any difference, due to what they are measuring (hydronium ion concentration). There may be differences in construction/durability, but I don't really know. I'm quite fond of Yellow Springs Instruments (YSI), and they are typically "marketed" to environmental researchers for general applications in the wild (and they are kind of pricey; as their rugged construction makes them very sturdy).

I am very pleased with mine from Neptune Systems. Couldn't calibrate it though until they advised me to take soft cover off the tip - that's just a protective cover.
