I have a 34 gallon hex (25"high X 18" flat to flat) thats pretty stacked with live rock. im in the process of cycling. Right now it has a Bak Pak bio filter/protien skimmer on it. It doesnt really have that much of a output to create any good water currents in my tank. Obviously I should get a powerhead and put it in there to have more water current. The problem i can see now is that its going to create one stream of water and create a cyclone in this round shape tank.
Im guessing my option now is to go with a wavemaker to create different currents in different directions at different times.
What wavemaker do you guys recommend? How many powerheads should I use?
I think the Tsunami wavemaker is the best built. In the meantime, get two powerheads and set them so the outflows oppose each other - that might provide you with enough turbulence so that you don't need a wavemaker. Incidentally, many powerheads are not designed to work with a wavemaker. Maxi-Jets will do fine for that application, being very quiet when they switch on.
