running without sump

husband usually empties skimmer cup. i know he hasn't done it in a while (at least two weeks). i just checked and there is no skimmate in cup. therefore i have apparently been running without collecting any skum. water quality and clarity are great. what's going on? is all the live rock doing it? about 300# in a 125.

Give your skimmer a good cleaning in hot water and then see if it starts making skimmate. Do you also have macroalgae growing for nutrient export? What is your bioload? How much do you feed?

Without knowing anything about your bioload, it's not possible to opine on your question.
