I hae a lionfish (red volitans) it is still young only 6 inches long. I would like to get a potters angel but don't want it to get eated when the lion gets full size. They would be in 135 gal tank with 200lbs of live rock. What in your experience is the largest fish you have seen a lionfish eat?

If the lion is hungry, and the tankmate fits in his mouth....he's supper!

Having said that, I've seen small and medium sized volitans in reef tanks with centropyge angels, and haven't seen a casualty.

the very first fish i ever owned were a medium red volitans and a potters angel. I had them together in my 56 gal. The lion showed slight curiousity towards the angel at first but never bothered it. Angels are also quite animated and rarely "sit still". If you have places for your angel to hide at night, you should be o.k., but as stated, a lion has a big yap and can ingest some pretty big stuff!

I think you would be taking a chance putting any dwarf angel with a lionfish. I have kept dwarf angels in with Pterois Radiata and Antennata which are dwarfs lions without any problems though.
