I dose kalkwasser 24/7 with a auto top-off system. I tested it just this morning and it was 7.8. It usually runs 8.3 during lights on.

I have no ph swing. It stays pretty stable no matter what. I add some trace elements, but nothing to fix ph in specific.

Have you tried a different test kit?

I've recently stablized my pH in the 8.15 - 8.30 range. pH naturally seems to rise during the day and drop at night. My pH swings used to be much more erratic, but since adding a refugium lit on an opposite cycle to the main tank, and running my calcium reactor on a controller, the pH has been rock solid. The calcium reactor runs unless the pH drops below 8.2. I don't use any additives. It appears that the range is tightening even furth. You can see mytank monitor to get a sense of the pH swings.
