Hello Everyone,

I was considering adding a Linckia sp. sea star to one of my tanks at some point and wanted to do some homework first. From my recollection the linckia are reef safe, the only issue that I recall is that they don't always acclimate well. Does anybody have expireince with these guys? What kind of care do they require and what other considerations are there with the linckias? Any differences in the color variations (red, blue, purple)? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I think that the only true lincka is blue. I have heard of maroon, but not seen them.

The acclimation should be very slow, on the order of 4-5 hours with a drip.

Mine has been in my tank for 3.5 months and is doing fine. He is slow and does not move very often, but is very beautiful.

He eats diatoms and other film algaes, mostly on the rocks.

Blue Jaw,

Thanks for the link! This was exactly the kind of info I was looking for, Rob's post is GREAT! Good set of guidelines for Linckia sp. care. Thanks again!
