Heloo,

I just purchased a bubble coral, and the store reccommends feeding him Krill twice per week. He looks great, but doesnt seem to interested in the Krill. I am taking a small piece off and trying to place it by his mouth. It just seems to sit there. I tried at night, and as soon as I got too close, he closed up.

Am I missing something ?? Does he really even need it ??

HELP !

I have a Sebae Anemone that i feed a piece of shrimp every other day. Just put the piece on him he will work it into his mouth. Try other meaty foods such as shrimp or silversides. About anything meaty that is found in satwater is aceptable. He might not eat for up to a week or so as he is getting adjusted. What kind of loighting do you have over its head.

Are we talking about bubble coral or bubble anemone (E. quad)?

What kind of krill are you using? The freeze dried ones that you have to rehydrate, or the frozen ones? Try a small piece next time (eg. divide into 3 pieces). If they are not interested in it, Try pieces of silverside, table shrimp, mussel meat, or other seafoods. Mine took 1/2 chunk of frozen prime reef.

It is a bubble coral in a 29 gallon tank, under 165 watts of power compact lighting. It is in the upper part of the tank.
I guess I will keep at it, they fed it krill at the store where I bought it. I guess that I just have to have some more patience ( that's what the wife says anyway

). I only had it three days.

I am using the frozen Frill.

Thanks for the advise !! Much appreciated !

I have a Bubble Coral that I feed 2 to 3Xs a week. Usually right before lights out it will morph it's bubbles into tentacle shapes. When it does this you can actually see the mouth. These tentacles are "sticky" and will capture the meaty item offered. It will then SLOWLY consume the food.

Just a note about placement. These corals regulate the amount of light to it's zooanthale (sp) by the bubble size and shape. Make sure the current is not too strong so that it can expand as needed.

Mine takes thawed brine, mysis, silversides, squid and fresh cocktail shrimp (uncooked) from the grocery store. Actually I have never seen it refuse anything other than flake.

Yeah, Modo, mine will eat anything, as well. It is a white bubble. I think it especially likes silversides in the morning!

Good luck,

Mine eats anything too. I don't feed it that often though - 2-3 times a week? Does everyone else feed theirs that much?

2-3x a week sounds right to me. I keep mine in moderate flow at the bottom of my tank. Eats everything I give it including pellet food.

When I first got mine it wasn't so healthy so I fed it ALOT. Then it began to perk up and look really well. I backed off and only started feeding it once a week. It took a dive for the worse. The balance seems to be twice a week but if I have food leftover from the fish I will feed this to the Bubble. So it gets an average of about 2-3 x's a week.

My tank is small enough that this isn't too hard to do. It's located on the sand under an arch in the rockwork, in moderate flow and indirect MH lighting. It is a real tempormental SOB!

Thanks for all of the replies !

I finally got him to eat, but it is quite a job ( I have the wife standing guard as I type

).

I say that because I have to fend off the three cleaner shrimp, the 20 hermit crabs, and the Sebae Clown who keep trying to steal the Krill, I see it being a thirthy minute job twice per week, oh well !

Thanks Again !!
