I got my RO/Di from Air Water Ice, I picked up the Typhoon III, but they have a number of options that cost alot less. He gives you everything you need to get going and it is made with quality parts, included with his packages are all the hosing that you will need, a fiter wrench, TDS meter, push in fittings and a saddle valve. You may find a cheaper unit, only to end up paying more when you buy all the extras actually needed to get the thing up and running.

Now that the how to questions have been answered.

I'd like to know who will be willing to HELP me make this switch?
I will be ordering the tank from Petland, since they beat FT by over $200 difference. And I don't think they have a service that will help take out the old one, and replace it with the new one. I hope to order the new one in the next month or so.
I will also be needing containers to hold the water from the old one. I have some 5gl. buckets, not many since my old contractor took the liberty of mixing stuco in a bunch of them.
Come on guys who is going to help me?

What size tank are you going with? I would love to help but all my time lately is spent working, sleeping or changing diapers. :( although the diaper part is kind of :)

Same tank, 155 Bow. Only replacing it because of the scratches, and the silicone peeling off. I simply do not trust it's stability.
So you find changing diapers :), after 4 babies, and 2 grands I don't look forward to that. Especially with the ones that can:knockedou.

I have 2 of the 32 g Brute cans that you can borrow to store some of the water you'll be making, I can work out of my smaller ones for awhile.

Count me in when it happens! I can help with the small stuff.

BTW- I have the Reefkeeper from Air, Water & Ice. Great performance, easy to change the filters, it comes with all the bells & whistles you'll need. It's very user friendly with all the lines/filters labeled. Some folks don't like that the canisters aren't clear, but the TDS meter is going to tell you when you need to change the filters anyway.

Thanks Kathy. I like your quote.. But to me happiness is having friends like the ones I've met here in MR. Thanks again Kathy. Gotta go look up Reefkeeper..

And so it begins pics included..

OK guys & gals the breakdow of the 155 bow front has begun, and new equipment and supplies have been ordered.

Tank,4 buckets of esv sand, 2 buckets IO salt have been ordered via FishTown. To be delivered late next week.

2-72" Uri Super Actinic, 3-Ushio 175watt 10K, 3-BulkHeads 1" slip/slip,
1-phosban reactor, 2-maxijet 400, 2-Pendutors 3/4" Males on order via "DeepwaterExtremes"

RO/DI has been ordered from air water and ice.

I am picking up the container for the water this weekend.

Canopy has been ordered from Omega

Refractometer ordered from Reef Exotics

And I would like to have an automatic top off. I have a 10gl.tank that I could use for this. What else would I need?

I have 2 - 37gl. rubbermaid totes full of lr.got my old seaclones, pump, and heater going in them.
The skimmate in the seaclone is 3 days worth... The other seaclone just got plugged in this morning.

Next step is to get the old southdown sand out of the tank. I've decided to wait a couple of days on that because I'm afraid of taking to much of what I believe to be the good bacteria that helps to filter the tank.

As always any recommendations are welcomed.

Guys, how much will my corals suffer if I dump all the old sand & water, and start brand new with RO/DI water & ESV sand, and my old lr?

The corals that I have are mostly lps, leathers, mushrooms, polys, zoas, caps, and some other one that we don't know what it is.

Dumping all the sand will take ALOT of beneficial bacteria with it. Add a 100% water change and you're subjecting your corals to alot of stress.
