Hey Everyone,

My cousin just bought a 110 gallon AGA tank from a fellow member. We looked into easier ways of cleaning tank besides having fun with hours with razors lol.

I heard you can fill the tank with water and mix white vinegar and add a powerhead or two and it should remove or at loosen the algae all over the glass.

We are just unsure of how much vinegar to place in the tank.

Thanks!

When i cleaned my.90 gallon i used 3 gallons let it run for a few hrs and then scraped with a razor while its still full , while the algae is wet its always softer , then any really hard spots i soaked a rag in white vinegar and layed it ontop of the algae for an hour or so at least and then scraped , you can never use too much vinegar just make sure you let the tank dry completely after and then rinse with freshwater and let dry again

For a tank that size it'll require quite a bit of vinegar. Even at 1 cup per gallon, you're looking at 6-7 gallons of vinegar. Try spraying straight vinegar from a spray bottle and let it soak and take a razor to it. Repeat if necessary.

I just cleaned my tank using vinegar. What you need to do is get a spray bottle fill it with vinegar (no water), get a bunch of paper towels spray them with vinegar (one sheet at a time) and place them all around the inside glass. They will stick to the glass. If you want you can spray the sheets again once when they are on the glass. Then take seran wrap and cover the sheets to keep the moist. Leave it overnight and then just wipe. Brand new tank, just keep in mind your house will be smelling like vinegar. But it works like a charm.
