Hey guys, so unfortunately it seems like ich has struck down on me and ruined my downgrade so now I have to treat these poor fish. Does anyone know if I can use a large rubbermaid container to treat them rather than finding a tank to ruin just to use copper in it. I figured the rubbermaid could be used for something else once I'm done with the 3 month treatment process. I plan on using Seachem Cupramine to eradicate the ich. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Fortunato

haha we're talking about 24 fish, i wish a 20 gallon would be good but unfortunately it won't cut it. It sucks cuz I want to save them but it's going to be a royal PITA and I already went through a tank crash where I lost all my fish so it's really hard to be going through something that could have the same outcome once again.

16 small to medium fish
- 5 ocellaris clowns
- 2 black saddleback clowns
- 2 pink skunk clowns

- psychedelic mandarin

8 medium to large fish
- vlamingi tang
- hippo tang
- scopas tang

I suggest if they're eating leave them be. Chasing them with a net and putting them into a new home will stress them out further.

You will NEVER get rid of ich. You will only establish a balance in your fish's immunity to keep the ich in check.

Rubbermade will be fine. I will use three if I were you. Thats a lot of fish and waste. Make sure the water is well airated.

That could be the problem right there 2 many tang 4 for a 150 when they where in a 210.. They feel stressed-out.

+1 way too many fish. But hay it's just me.
When you put all of this fish in smaller container I am sure half of them will get stress even more and die.
Once you have ick in the system will never go a way the only solution is to try to keep fish stress free.
Soak food in garlic, make sure they eat and cleaner shrimp that is my secret for this parasite.

Where do you guys come up with this info? Telling people they can never get rid of ich?

It's not easy to get rid of, but it is possible. Most people just don't do it correctly and end up getting it again.

This is the problem with message boards. Too many opinions, too little facts.

+1 if you haven't done real research on ich please don't comment. Obviously reefs has because he's going in the right direction. Give me a tang that has been treated for ich, put it in my tank and watch me chase it around for hours with a net and he will never, never, never, I mean never get ich. A tang that gets ich from being stressed either already had ich or ich was already in tank and tang was coping and or balancing out like another member said and wasn't showing signs. The stress allows the ich to tilt the balance and multiply like crazy, eventually the fish that was once "immune" to the ich in said tank succumbs to it. Reefs as long as your temp is good, water quality is good and lighting, you should be ok..good luck
