I need to invest in a UPS, especially after my experience a few weeks ago with a local blackout. 2 SEIO 820s and maybe a heater/fan is all I'd be concerned about running.

Yeah, you can definetly use one. How long was the blackout?

That's a very good price for a 720w backup. Think I need to pick up a few.

thanks for the link. $99 is a great price for a little piece of mind.
You welcome.......yeah, you never know when the circuit jumps. :D

will that work? does it provide AC power? I though battery was DC current. I could be wrong..
It has a rechargable battery inside the UPS and will only use the rechargeable battery when there's no electricity.

Looks like it only runs up to 145mins or I could be wrong.

Depends what you're running on it Paul. If you were to plug a 21" computer monitor into it, you'd probably get about 10 - 15 minutes. Plug a Tunze powerhead into it and you'd probably get over 24 hours.
Pierce, just a wild guesstimate on the above times. :fishhit:

Not exactly the same but close enough..

I know. Didn't want to get into the whole electro dynamics of it. But for practical purposes it works the same. :shhh:

Hey Russ,

I know it say 720W but whats the "Up to 145 minutes of battery backup" about?

Just about all UPS boxes have the 'Up to...... minutes" on it for the company's protection. The box probably says, in small print somewhere, that the time they are quoting is accurate if you are plugging x, y & z into the UPS. The time will vary if you plug more or less than x, y & z into it..If you plug a 300w heater into it and your power goes out in January as opposed to July the draw will be completely different on the backup.

I hope this is clear. Sometimes trying to explain these things in writing is more confusing than talking it out. I don't want to tell you how many times I read, re-read and then read it again before I clicked 'submit reply' :smash: .

Both numbers 720W and 145 minites are misleading!!!! The most important number is 1200VA. But when you click on the spec, it even say it's 1250VA. But when talking about capacity of electricity it should have been 1200VAH and 1250VAH. I really wonder if the Staples guy who put the spec on the web page have been shocked by electricity.
