Refugium or sump tank with bio balls

I'm setting up a new 92 gallon bow from corner but I don't know which way to go with it should I do a refugium with the sand and cheeto or a sump wet-dry with the bio balls I really can't decide both are good what do you guys think ?

If its a fish only or fowlr then go for wet/ dry. If you gonna do reef, go for a refugium.

Wins if u plan on doing reef go with the sump/refugium. If u plan on FOWLER then you can do either one. But the refugium does leave you the option for a reef and also to let u grow Copepods for live food for some fish.

Who says that? Having a fuge is no replacement for not properly replenishing the tank with needed trace elements and other things the tank needs in order to thrive. This is with any tank no matter how good your filtration is you should still do water changes even if it's small water changes every week or every 2 weeks.

Less water changes if you can keep your nutrients in check but you need to dose your system for Mag, Alk,Cal and other trace elements accordingly. Or you can do weekly water changes and that takes care of pretty much everything.

I would say a refugium it's a better bio filter and with the bio ball hold a $hit load of nitrates

How deep of a sandbed do you guys suggest? I have a 30 gallon fug with alot of grape caluerpa liverock going for about 4 months and it's really not doing much.

I wouldn't do a saltwater setup with out one, at least for me..... I never had luck lowering nitrites,nitrates,ammonia, to 0 until I did a refugium ....
4" sandbed-cheato-amphipods-copods....and a good skimmer is what has worked for me. GL

Hey wins it is very easy I actually just switched from a sump to a refugium today. I just bought a 30 gallon tank , had some glass cut for the chambers and siliconed everything. The benefits out way running a sump.

IMO go with a fuge/sump.
1- you will have more water volume.
2- you will be able to grow pods for the dt
3-you will export nitrates and phosphates in a natural way.

that looks like a drop in bio ball chamber, I would remove it and build a sump out of the tank thats in their now.
